One of the interesting things I find about communication is how vast the topic actually is. There are many different types of communication be it intentional or unintentional, straight forward or complex, easy to understand or with a lot of "noise" that distorts the message. I typically consider myself to be a more reserved person than average. I enjoy being with others, but rarely like too much attention drawn to myself, even if it is for a positive reason. Although with the many types of communication available to me, I'm able to select which type is most comfortable to me and can get my point across to whomever may be receiving it most efficiently.
I enjoy facebook, texting, instant messaging, face to face conversations among others (just don't ask me to speak in front of thousands of people and I'll be generally ok with it :) ).
What I learned from Chapter one, is that it is necessary to establish relationships with people for emotional health and even physical health! I find it interesting that our physical bodies are so closely related to how we feel emotionally.
In Chapter two I learned about self-concept, other terms relating to myself, and how it is important to visualize myself as valuable in my own eyes. I'm more likely to treat myself and others with respect if I think positively about myself and others, regardless of what may have happened in any given day, be it good or bad. It'd also be good to note how important it is to present myself to others as comfortable and satisfied with myself.
